Welcoming Doug Carroll as Words of Hope Writer!

When Liz Farquhar retired from writing Esperanza’s Words of Hope Newsletter for over 20 years, Michael Paradise faithfully worked with our community and a freelance writer, Lee Shappell, to put together the newsletter each week.  We are grateful to you, Michael, for corralling us each week and reminding us to write articles!

Beginning this week, we welcome Doug Carroll as the new writer for the Esperanza newsletter!  He comes to us recommended by Lee Shappell, our previous writer, with much experience in journalism.  From time to time, we will see Doug in worship at Esperanza, and some of us will receive calls or emails from him asking about particular ministries or events.  One of the primary tasks in community is communication, so we are grateful for Doug’s deft hand at helping us be clear, transparent, and inspired about what God is doing at Esperanza.

A bit about Doug, a Chandler resident: He will write articles for publication and also edit others that are submitted. He was a reporter and editor for the Arizona Republic for 18 years and also served stints as director of communications for Grand Canyon University and the University of Arizona. He grew up in an ELCA congregation in Urbana, Illinois, and has been a member of Lutheran churches in Chicago, St. Louis and Arizona.

When you have information you would like shared in the newsletter, please feel free to use this form https://myesperanza.org/news-item/ or reach out to Doug Carroll at [email protected] and Michael Paradise at [email protected] who will continue to assist in publishing the newsletter.

Welcome, Doug!

Peace and blessings,

Pastor Sarah
