Esperanza Hunger Ministry: Help us organize Ahwatukee Foothills CROP Hunger Walk

Esperanza is taking the lead in organizing the Church World Services Ahwatukee Foothills CROP Hunger Walk on Sunday, Nov. 13, at Desert Foothills Park.

The fundraising event supports the global mission of CWS, a faith-based organization transforming communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement and disaster. Approximately 25 percent of money raised will be donated to a local food bank, to be named.

In the U.S., approximately 600 CROP Hunger Walks are conducted annually, raising approximately $6.5 million. The first CROP hunger was in 1969 in Bismarck, ND.

Our intent is to invite all places of worship in the Ahwatukee Foothills community to participate.

We need your help!

To make this event successful, we must form a Walk Committee of a Committee Coordinator, Business/Community Sponsorship Leader, Education Leader, Logistics & Safety Leader, Online Promotion Leader, Publicity Leader, Recruitment Leader and Treasurer.

Larry Hanson will be Committee Coordinator.

This link gives a brief description of team member responsibilities: https://resources.crophungerwalk.org/resource/getting-started/. Click on the “Download Now” button to get the PDF.

We anticipate that the committee will meet approximately once a month from late June to November, primarily using Zoom.

If you are interested in serving on the committee or have questions, please contact Peggy or Larry Hanson, or the office in the next couple of weeks.
