Ash Wednesday Service Tomorrow Evening at 7 P.M. in-person & live-streamed

Our Lenten journey begins tomorrow evening with Ash Wednesday, a day we hear both that we are loved and that we are dust.  All are welcome to worship at our Ash Wednesday service of Imposition of Ashes and Holy Communion at 7 P.M.

The cross made on our foreheads with oil in Holy Baptism is retraced with ashes, a reminder that we are dust and to dust we shall return. Ash Wednesday’s scripture calls us to genuine faith practices of generosity, prayer, and fasting. In response, many Christians choose a Lenten practice—either to give up something or to add something that enriches their lives of faith during the 40 days of Lent.

For those who embrace a Lenten practice, we suggest two:

Esperanza’s Mid-Week Lenten Practice: Each Wednesday beginning March 1, we will have supper at 6:00 P.M. in the Fellowship Hall, a discernment gathering with centering prayer at 6:30 P.M. in the Sanctuary, and then worship at 7:00 P.M. in the Sanctuary.  To learn more, Click Here

Grand Canyon Synod’s 40-40-40 Challenge: In friendly competition with the Southeastern Iowa Synod, the Grand Canyon Synod invites us to partake in the 40-40-40 Challenge that includes devotions, decluttering, donations, and (wellness) disciplines. To learn more and to sign up, Click Here.

This service will be live-streamed and can be accessed by visiting our Worship Page.
