Th Poetry of Lent – Heavens

Heavens
(Mark 10:32-45)

Hearing my beloved
Predict his own death took my
Breath away.
It was so unfair,
Unjust,
I wanted to scream.
I loved him!
How could his words be true, and
If they were,
I didn’t want to hear them,
As if not hearing could
Change his fate,
Provide a detour around the vast
Known
And unknown. Mostly
Though I wanted to go with him,
Be near.
If he had to go to heaven I prayed
To be on his right side.
Or even on his left.
