Some children in the Kyrene School District are coming to class on Monday mornings hungry and struggling to focus on learning. The Kyrene Family Resource Center (KFRC) is responding to this need by packing Weekend Food Bags for these children to take home on Fridays.
Food items for the bags can include:
- Microwavable mac and cheese
- Microwavable Chef Boyardee
- Microwavable ramen noodles
- Microwavable cups of soup
- Breakfast cereal, preferably Cheerios
- Granola bars
- Applesauce or fruit cups
Except for cereal and granola bars, the KFRC prefers single-serving items. Consider purchasing single-serving containers in bulk at Costco or other warehouse stores.
The KFRC packs the donated food into bags for distribution. Earlier this year, the KFRC was providing approximately 500 food bags per month. There is now a need for 800+ food bags each month.
The KFRC has specifically requested that Esperanza focus on donating cereal and granola bars.
Thank you for helping provide food to children in our community!
