It’s the Souper Bowl, and You Can Make It a Winner

Fired up for the Super Bowl? What about the Souper Bowl?

Esperanza will host a Souper Bowl of Caring competition during the church service on Feb. 11, which is Super Bowl Sunday this year. (The football game, in Las Vegas, will be played much later in the day.) You’re encouraged to wear a sports jersey to church and show your support.

Here are the “rules”: Please bring non-perishable food (granola bars, jelly, rice, cereal, black beans, dried pinto beans, spaghetti, and spaghetti sauce) to church. Three boxes will be placed near the altar for the food: one box for each team in the Super Bowl and one box for “other” (perhaps your team didn’t make it, or you don’t like the ones that did). Cash donations also will be accepted.

Food donations will be delivered to the Kyrene Family Resource Center. Cash donations will be used for Esperanza’s collaborative ministries with Grace Lutheran (preparing pancake breakfasts and sack lunches for the homeless).

For questions, contact Deacon Connie or Larry Hanson.
