Hope in Action: We welcome Solveig Muus for hunger talk

To kick-off our focus on hunger this year, we’re very excited to welcome Solveig Muus to Esperanza on Sunday, March 20. She will join us at both worship services as our guest preacher.

Between services, Solveig will discuss hunger in our neighborhood and larger context of Arizona, answer questions about local issues, hunger advocacy and action, and discuss ways we can jump in and make a difference!

Listen to this special presentation on Sunday, March 20, at 9:40 a.m., in the Sanctuary, also live-streamed on Esperanza YouTube Channel

God is calling us to live as people of faith in a world of abundance, yet it also is a world where people are going hungry.

A seeming conundrum? Not necessarily.

Join us during Lent as we take a deeper look.

Invite your friends and neighbors to take part and find out how we all together can bring hope to our community!

Our “Hunger Catechism” continues March 27 and April 3. Each lesson begins with Martin Luther’s interpretations in both the Small and Large Catechisms and discusses their spiritual implications and social applications.

We’ll have examples of how the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is working alongside neighbors within the U.S. and around the world through the ministry of ELCA World Hunger. We’ll discuss how you and I can make a difference in our own community. And we’ll take questions.

2022 Esperanza Hunger Ministry Plan

At the request of Chuck, a hunger ministry plan was drafted with Peggy and Larry Hanson and Pastor Annemarie. The plan was presented to and approved by the Church Council on February 15.
