Help Us Provide Dinner for Family Promise September 24th

After a long period of waiting for construction to be completed, St. Benedict Catholic Church is again hosting families from Family Promise, and we at Esperanza will again be providing dinner for one evening!

Our next evening to provide dinner is Tuesday, September 24. We will need volunteers to provide one course of the meal: main dish, salad, side dish, milk and juice for the morning, and cereal bars and fruit for the morning. If you would like to help, please contact Donna Sparber at (480) 205-4143 or [email protected]. Donna will provide information about a week ahead of time on how many servings will be needed and if there are any dietary restrictions or food allergies.

If you volunteer to provide the main dish, please let us know what you will be bringing, since we try to avoid having the same main dish two nights in a row. Rick and Donna Sparber will be the overnight hosts. Food will need to be brought to the St. Benedict Annex behind the church by 5:30 p.m.  Volunteers are encouraged to stay for dinner with the families.

The mission of Family Promise is “providing emergency shelter and social services to help families move toward independent housing and self-sufficiency.” There are 32 congregations in metro Phoenix that support this mission by hosting transitioning families with children for the evening meal and overnight accommodations. St. Benedict’s is one of these congregations. To learn more about Family Promise, visit their website at www.familypromiseaz.org.
