Habitat update: Nice job painting — and who knew Michael Paradise could cook?

Last Saturday was another great week at our Habitat build site.

In addition to the normal 15 to 20 volunteers, we were blessed to have a group of about 10 volunteers from the Rotary Club of Tempe.

Everyone pitched in and we were able to accomplish many tasks, including caulking and spackling. We painted doors, the garage, closets and shelves.

We also finished cutting the shelves, installing the remainder of the window sills, building the scuttle-hole covers, cleaning out the garage and other tasks.

The real star, though, was Chef Michael Paradise, son Jax and Michael’s dad Hank.

Michael came early at about 8:30 a.m. and set up his “kitchen.” At 11:30, volunteers had a hot grilled gourmet luncheon. This spread included grilled beef kielbasa, Applewood Chicken sausage and pork Italian sausage, onions and peppers served on wonderful buns.

There also was homemade mac and cheese as well as tossed salad.

To top it off, There were snickerdoodle cookies for desert!

This meal was a real treat and a BIG hit for all who were there! A big THANKS to Michael, Hank anA group of people preparing food inside of itd Jax!
