Esperanza Turns Out for Ahwatukee’s Easter Parade

What do bunny ears, volunteers, a deacon, a director, preschool families, decorated bicycles, and a 1965 Ford Thunderbird have in common? All were participants in the 48th annual Ahwatukee Kiwanis Easter Parade on behalf of Esperanza Lutheran Church.

On Saturday, March 30, members of Esperanza and families from Children of Hope walked in the parade carrying the Esperanza banner while Paul Wagner brought up the rear with his 1965 Ford Thunderbird and Paul and Cindy Gerrish rode their decorated bicycles while handing out nearly 800 pieces of candy and 800 fabric hearts to the cheering crowds.

After the parade, Linda Dickson and volunteers manned our tent for Spring Fling in the nearby park. Lots of folks stopped by our booth to ask for information regarding church services, our preschool program, VBS, and community outreach and volunteer opportunities. And three Bibles were given away — two to children with huge smiles on their faces.

It was another great community event for Esperanza!
