Esperanza Hunger Ministry: Volunteers graciously feed homeless at Grace Lutheran

On May 1, 14 volunteers from Esperanza prepared and served a pancake breakfast at Grace Lutheran Church for homeless people in the area.

Our volunteers served approximately 150 people at the church in downtown Phoenix.

Breakfast preparation started at 6:20 a.m., and cleanup was completed by 9 a.m.

A big thank-you to the volunteers: Kathy and John Gemma, Debbie Grayson, Mark and Gwen Entsminger, Jim Gisselquist, Susan and Tom Vega, Pam and Chuck Yount, Taite Paradise, Mike Paradise, and Peggy and Larry Hanson.

Our host, Grace Lutheran, was very appreciative of the Esperanza team.

If you have any questions, please contact Peggy or Larry Hanson.

Families also continue generous donations to Kyrene resource center

In April, Esperanza families donated 56 pounds of food to the Kyrene Family Resource Center, raising our  year-to-date total to 290 pounds. So through one-third of the year, we are on pace to donate 870 pounds for 2022 – a bit below the half-ton threshold.

We’re within striking distance of it and we can get back up there with a little generous help!

And thank you to all who donated, making the lives of struggling people just that much easier!!!

The top priority needs are squeezable applesauce, granola bars, fruit snacks and toilet paper.

Kyrene Family Resource Center supports basic needs of all Kyrene School District students, kindergarten through middle school. If needed, Kyrene families and employees may receive support from the center, as well, for immediate needs, such as gently used school clothing, food and hygiene supplies.

We encourage everyone to step up and help our neighbors in need!

Donations may be placed in the KFRC box in the Fellowship Hall.

Peggy and Larry Hanson deliver all donated food to the center on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.
