Construction of the Jama Family home continues to proceed very well. We just completed putting the sheathing on the roof
In preparation for the installation of the shingles. Hopefully this Saturday we’ll be able to begin putting on the roofing shingles. Roofing supplies may not be delivered to the site by Saturday. If supplies do not arrive, we will be working on other items in the house, and begin the roofing on Saturday November 6th. Regardless of whether we have the roofing materials, we will also have work to do down on the ground.
It’s important that our financial support does not lag behind our construction progress! Our coalition’s obligation to sponsor this home is $100,000. Non-profits are concerned that Covid isolation has rendered missions like this out of sight and out of mind, so please consider supporting us with a donation to Habitat for Humanity (Central Arizona) on behalf of the Southeast Valley Lutheran Coalition.
The smart way to donate is to take advantage of the State Tax Credit, here are some details:
• Habitat is a QCO (Qualifying Charitable Organization) that assists low income children, individuals and families, so your donation qualifies for a dollar for dollar state tax credit.
• Contribution for the 2021 tax tear can be made through April 15th, 2022.
• Dollar for Dollar credit maximums for this program max out at $400 for single filers and $800 for those filing jointly. Donating to an organization assisting low-income families DOES NOT prevent you from donating and getting state tax credits for donating to schools.
• Use State Tax Credit form 321
Donating on-line is quick and easy at Donate Online – Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona (habitatcaz.org). Be sure to mention that you are donating on behalf of the Southeast Valley Lutheran Coalition.
We continue to have a great group of volunteers on all of the build days. Please consider coming out and joining us if you can. Volunteers pictured here include a father/daughter team! John Fisher’s daughter, Sarah, was in town and joined us for the build.
