Roofing Work Done as Red-Hot Phoenix Summer Blazes On

A person standing in a parking lot“It’s too hot for (fill in the blank).” You’ve been saying it. Everyone has been saying it.

Everyone, that is, except the hardy people who keep Esperanza’s facilities and grounds maintained, even during the brutal heat of a Phoenix summer. Recent projects at the church prove that there is no such thing as an offseason for maintenance work. It gets done, no matter what it’s like outside.

The most significant project to be completed recently was the roofing of the two-story building — the only roof on Esperanza’s campus that hadn’t been redone previously. S&R Roofing handled the job, which took three days to finish right after Vacation Bible School had concluded.

That’s not all. Repair work on the eaves of the Fellowship Hall also has been done, along with less-detailed similar work on the preschool. The sprinkler system has been repaired, to bring it into city compliance. And landscaping continues throughout the summer, with two workdays a month devoted to keeping the grounds in shape.

Kudos are warranted for those who have faithfully labored behind the scenes on facilities and grounds tasks this summer. Workers include Denzil Klein, Randy Wright, Jim Gisselquist, John Fisher, Tom Vega and Larry Hanson. Thank them in person when you have an opportunity. Because of them and others, we have a well-maintained, beautiful church campus year round.
