Powerful Lessons in Faith From the People of Honduras – Presentation Moved Back to Original Date

By Kathy Elsaesser

It was with much gratitude and thanksgiving that Robert and I set off for Honduras in February with 750 toothbrushes and several hundred tubes of toothpaste and containers of dental floss. When we arrived at “The Ranch” medical/dental clinic in Olancho two days later, the smiles on the faces of the medical and dental teams lit up the room. Thank you, Esperanza, for again answering God’s call to help others in need.

Why Honduras, you may be asking? Almost 35 years ago, I made my first trip to Honduras as director of U.S. operations for the NGO Honduras Outreach, Inc. Little did I know at the time that I was embarking upon a lifetime commitment to strangers who would become friends — and a country that would become a second home. I continue to be in awe of the people of Honduras as they battle hunger, despair, poverty, and the destruction of many hurricanes, with the full armor of God and a faith that can move mountains. I learn and take away much more than I can ever give.

On Sunday, May 5th, please stay after church for a brief presentation about what God and the church are doing in Honduras and how your gifts of toothbrushes, toothpaste, and dental floss are being used as an extension of His and our story.
