It’s a new year for Esperanza high schoolers, with a new opportunity to meet ELCA Lutheran youth from across the valley.
Phoenix Lutheran Youth! – or PhLY – gathers high school youth from Our Saviour’s, Grace, Faith, St. John’s, St. Andrews, Celebration, Christ, Trinity, and Vida Nueva Lutheran Churches one Saturday a month at varying locations among participating congregations for a night of a night of fun, food, and faith. Sunday, August 15th, at both services, we will meet the youth director of PhLY, Casey Gosling. Please plan to attend and say hello!
The mission of PhLY is to shepherd the identities of high school youth — as children of God, loved by Jesus and saved by grace — by connecting local congregations to one another, sharing resources, and encouraging the youth to meet with other area youth. PhLY is an addition to, not a replacement for, the high school youth ministry already happening in our congregation.
The first big PhLY event is a Kick-Off Pool Party! August 21. Come hang out and get to know some new folks! The party will be at a member’s home near Camelback and Central from 4-7 p.m. We’ll carpool from Esperanza or if parents wish to drive their child, contact Pastor Annemarie for the address.
