As is tradition here at Esperanza, we will all gather in ONE WORSHIP SERVICE AT 9:30 A.M. to celebrate our young people who are affirming their baptisms. They have been learning and growing in their faith and now are ready to take on an adult role in the church. So we worship all together in one combined worship service to celebrate, show them our support, and welcome them into a new chapter in their lives as Christians.
In Lutheran tradition, infants are baptized to show that it is God’s work alone that saves us, not any effort on our part. It is God who reaches out to us and gathers us in. At that time of baptism, parents make promises, and the congregation pledges to support them in those promises: “to live with their children among God’s faithful people, bring them to the word of God and the holy supper, teach them the Lord’s Prayer, the Creed, and the Ten Commandments, place in their hands the holy scriptures, and nurture them in faith and prayer, so that their children may learn to trust God, proclaim Christ through word and deed, care for others and the world God made, and work for justice and peace.” On Confirmation Day, our young people take those promises on for themselves, to live life actively as followers of Jesus Christ.
Be sure to come to worship on Sunday, October 31 at 9:30 a.m. to celebrate these young people and their presence among us: Elly Cantoni, Riley Hanania, Taite Paradise, Jenna Riccobona, Christopher Tinsley, and Danny Tuszynski.
We’re so proud of them! Reception immediately following worship. Come join the celebration!
