Next Dinner for I-HELP Will Be Sept. 22 at Desert Cross Church

On Tuesday, Sept. 22, Esperanza will assist I-HELP by providing and serving a home-cooked meal to approximately 27 homeless individuals. The event will be held at Desert Cross Lutheran Church, 8600 S. McClintock Drive, Tempe.

Here are the details:

  • Food donations for dinner: ham (has already been donated), baked beans, cold potato salad, caesar salad and dressing, fruit salad, and dessert. Cupcakes to celebrate birthdays have already been donated. Food quantities need to be adequate to feed 40 people (I-HELP guests and Esperanza volunteers).
  • Food donations for lunch (27 sack lunches) for the following day: three loaves of bread, meat (beef, turkey, ham) for 27 sandwiches with two slices per sandwich, cheese slices (27), variety box(es) of chips, fruit or fruit cups, and granola bars.
  • Volunteers to help serve the dinner, clean up after dinner, and prepare the sack lunches will need to be on site by 4:30 p.m. and should be done by 7:15.
  • Food must be delivered to Desert Cross by 4:30 p.m.
  • If you can provide food donations for dinner and/or lunches, please sign up on the form in the Fellowship Hall.
  • If you would like to help serve the dinner, clean up, and prepare the sack lunches, please sign up on the form in the Fellowship Hall.
