Mask-wearing now optional at Esperanza indoor events

At Esperanza, we have been following CDC recommendations during this pandemic. In response to the CDC’s announcement on Friday, February 25, to follow COVID-19 Community Levels, we will be following the Level for Maricopa County. I am so thankful that our Level at this time is Medium. We have updated our policy accordingly, using the CDC’s guidelines for that Level. Our updated policy is below.

I pray that we continue to see continued improvement throughout our community. And I give thanks to God for your continued care for the most vulnerable of our population and your love for one another as we follow Christ through these days. Let us continue holding one another in Christ’s Love.

God’s peace and grace to you,A woman smiling for the camera

Effective immediately, wearing a mask at indoor events at Esperanza is optional.

This policy revision is consistent with new guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control.

On Friday, Feb. 25, the CDC began using “COVID-19 Community Levels” to guide decisions regarding virus-spread prevention steps in public places.

Maricopa County is considered a “Medium Level” threat on these new Community Levels guidance.

What does that mean, specifically for Esperanza? CDC guidelines for “Medium Level” are as follows:

  • If you are at high risk for severe illness, talk to your health-care provider about whether you need to wear a mask and take other precautions.
  • Stay up-to-date with COVID-19 vaccines.
  • Get tested if you have symptoms.

At Esperanza, you may choose to continue wearing a mask at all times, but it is no longer required.

Those with symptoms, a positive test or recent exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during these last two years during the pandemic. We will continue to monitor the situation and continue to follow CDC guidance as they are updated.
