Esperanza’s Story in Pictures

In February we will celebrate 35 years since a group of neighbors signed their names to a piece of paper that recognized them as the charter members of a new church in the neighborhood — Esperanza Lutheran Church.

Over 35 years the building itself has remained pretty much the same – still a shining landmark on the corner of Thunderhill and Ray. But the people have grown up and grown older, and many of us will need nametags to recognize each other at our anniversary party in February!

Help us remember who we were across those 35 years, from those first formative years until recently. If you have photos of church events – pancake breakfasts, confirmation camps, choir practices, VBS, Christmas Eve candlelight services – please share them! You may scan your old prints and send them electronically. We are interested in videos, too.

Tom Vega will be posting them in the Fellowship Hall for you to review when you are sipping coffee after service. We will provide post-it notes for you to use to identify the faces you recognize. This information will help us invite members and friends from across the years to come home to celebrate with us at the start of our next 35 years.

We also hope to create a multimedia show that we can all enjoy at the festivities. Kleenex will be provided. Those photos are going to touch your heart.
