You love a parade, right? Then join our church as we celebrate the Fourth of July at the annual Children’s Bicycle Parade sponsored by the Ahwatukee Chamber of Commerce.
This year’s parade will begin at 8:15 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, at the Foothills Baptist Church parking lot, near 21st Street and Chandler Boulevard. It will end at Thunderhill Park, directly across the street from Esperanza.
The chamber will provide free hot dogs, drinks, music, entertainment and prizes. And the Fire Department will use its hoses to provide a “shower” to anyone who wants one. The event will end at about 11 a.m.
Show your patriotic spirit by decorating bicycles, tricycles, scooters, wagons and baby strollers — and joining the parade! Then we’ll all meet up afterward.
Our church uses this summer opportunity to connect with the community, offering face painting, bubbles, foam wands, fans and treats. If you would like to help the volunteer effort — we need you! — contact the Outreach Team at [email protected] or pick up a sign-up sheet in the narthex at church. Volunteers also can help with tent set-up and tear-down.
Here are the times and assignments for which volunteers are needed on the Fourth:
- 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. — Tent and table set-up
- 8 to 11 a.m. — Helpers at tables
- 8:30 to 11 a.m. — Face painting
- 11 to 11:45 a.m. — Tent tear-down
Also: If you’re able to donate, we need face painting supplies, brushes, sponges, paints, glitter, wet wipes and makeup remover. These items can be delivered to the church kitchen and should be clearly marked “Fourth of July.”
