First Communion

Esperanza Lutheran Church First Communion Workshop

We will celebrate First Communion Sunday on Sunday, February 26th, 2023 at 9:00am.

All are welcome!

Communion is one of two sacraments in the Lutheran church (the other is baptism). For Lutherans, a sacrament has three defining characteristics:

  • It is something Jesus commanded us to do.
  • It uses a physical element — something we can see, touch and sometimes taste.
  • It is connected with God’s promise, the word of God, which gives faith.

“We emphasize that all are welcome at God’s table,” says Deacon Connie Rose-Kamprath, Esperanza’s family ministry coordinator.

Highlights from the 2023 First Commuion Workshops 

We had First Communion Workshops on Sunday February 5th & Sunday February 12th after church.  Participants met for lunch at 11:15 a.m. and concluded the workshops by 1 p.m.
