Earlier this year, The Arizona Nurses Association put out a post in local social media with the request that volunteers sew hearts out of various cloth materials to hand out to nurses for emotional support. Past President of the Arizona Nurses Association and the leader of this program, Teri Wicker, visited Esperanza in March to bring supplies for this worthy cause.
These beautiful hearts are a reminder to the nurses to take care of themselves while showing community support to the entire nursing community.
Linda Dickson said, “It gave me a real feeling of purpose during a time when I couldn’t contribute and be part of the COVID-19 solution. Here we are helping those on the front lines by providing emotional support to the nursing community.”
The program has expanded to ambulance drivers and other healthcare personnel.
